Study of John Singer Sargent's "Ena and Betty, Daughters of Asher and Mrs. Wertheimer" , using the old master technique
I'm not sure if this is Ena or Betty but it was fun. Below are the WIPS to show you what I did. I think I still need to hit a few higher lights to get more of a dynamic range. The lips are toned down as well, I just was feeling the natural look. Not to shoot myself in the foot, but I am also noticing more green showing through JSS's portrait and brighter colors. My goal on this study, though, was to work towards capturing the elegant simplifying of values and shapes, and the buttery skin texture.
